It is not always OK. If the files are independent then it is OK.
If they are not you have big troubles.
Eg. if you have an IMAP server and you have:
1 File containing messages index
2-9999999 files containing messages
You dump the index, next the user deletes some messages, next you dump
the messages... After restoring the backup you have problem.
