I've gotten my hands here recently on an R5k Indy, with IRIX 6.5 and a 2 gb HD. Unfortunately, the seller didn't leave me with a root password (Yuck). So, I figured my first course of action would be to mount the drive up in My Linux/XFS box and change the /etc/passwd file. But, after checking out the archives, it seems that I'm falling victim to the page size restriction. Now, here are my questions: 1. What is the status of the 2.5.16 patch? Has it overcome this problem yet? (I'm already building the 2.5.16 kernel, so I'll peobably find out, unless there is some fiddling to be done) 2. Is there any way to check what the block size of the disk is from Linux? If not, could I tell from the console in Irix? I ask because I've got some sparcs and alphas, and if there's a pretty good chance it might be 8k, I'll build them a new kernel. Thanks a lot! And by the way, I run XFS on several of my systems, and I gotta say, keep up the good work!
